Blog #1: World Poverty

Wheey, my first blog! My first blog will be about world poverty.

World poverty is really tragic! There are thousands, I mean, million people are in poverty, even though there are plenty food in the world. “Yet there is plenty of food in the world for everyone. The problem is that hungry people are trapped in severe poverty. They lack the money to buy enough food to nourish themselves. Being constantly malnourished, they become weaker and often sick. This makes them increasingly less able to work, which then makes them even poorer and hungrier. This downward spiral often continues until death for them and their families” (Breen, 2009). Out there in the world, children attend school to eat. It helps children to forget about hunger. Honestly, poor those children. I sometimes questioned myself, if the parents knew they are living in poverty lives, then why continue give births? They knew their children will suffer with hunger in severe poverty. One website even said that poverty is one the global issues, then, do something about it? Eh, there are many organizations trying to reduce / stop poverty but apparently, it is hard. Nothing have changed yet. “But deeper and more global causes of poverty are often less discussed” (Shah, 1998). I can’t imagine watching my children dying from poverty, to be specific, hunger. Over 25 thousand children die every year from poverty. Children are our future and this need to stop!

  1. I have seen that quote before: "Yet there is plenty of food in the world for everyone. The problem is that hungry people are trapped in severe poverty. They lack the money to buy enough food to nourish themselves. Being constantly malnourished, they become weaker and often sick. This makes them increasingly less able to work, which then makes them even poorer and hungrier. This downward spiral often continues until death for them and their families." There ARE plenty of food to go around for everyone, but there are many factors such as greedy governments, transportation to receive food, illness that prevents them from eating and many more. Another reason may be that they cannot afford to buy the food for them and their families. To know that there is enough food to go around for everyone - this is somewhere we can start and do something to help cease world hunger. Why is this happening when this is easily preventable. Sericia is right: The children are our future and world hunger need to stop because without our children - there is no future.

  2. Yeah, I could not understand why parents would continuously give birth to children while they are living in poverty and they cannot even afford to feed them.. That part does not make sense.

Wow, I did not realize that 25,000 children die everyday. UNICEF is the top organization so far. "Nothing have changed yet." Nothing? I think the number has decreased this year compared to the past years. I am glad UNICEF organization is trying their best to improve to reduce that number - 25,000 to zero. People need to take more actions to help children out there, though.

  3. I know the poverty is not easy for people. I think people's dream is to have children because they want them. That is probably why they have the children, but I agree with you that I wonder they were willing to give a birth if the parents knew they live in the poverty lines. I wish I have enough money to support and provide some foods to the people who live in the poverty lines.

I feel sad because I want to see more organziations in all states in the United States, which really supports to give the foods to the poor people. I noticed there are not much organizations to support the foods for poor people. I really appreciate about some churches that really supports the poor people, but I want more organizations than churches.

  4. It was an very interesting article. Governments are the main reason why we have that sereve world hunger, my opinion. I mean, in America, I have seen homeless around every corner but i have not seen children walking around with any homeless parents. Thats because in America, we prevent children hunger but when he is raised, unfortunately, he has to go on his own. That's wheres homeless in America choices are made. Either homeless or work. In another country, Governemnt doesnt do anything so therefore the children didnt have a choice, they were born in a homeless society and stays that way.
